About AWWIN

AWWIN, Inc is a 501(c)(3), publicly supported organization designed to assist single working women and their children. Over the past twelve years, AWWIN has assisted over 650 families in Savannah and the Coastal Empire.

Our Mission

It is the mission of AWWIN to deliver a full continuum of support services for the single working woman and her family through a variety of collaborative efforts and partnerships with community organizations and agencies.

Our Vision

To ensure that single, working women become self-sufficient, utilizing existing community resources as a vehicle of hope to transform their lives and ensure a prosperous legacy for themselves and their children.

AWWIN will host its second Ten Women In Black "Talking Real" Roundtable Discussion and Luncheon for all women, Saturday June 22, 2013 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in The Education Auditorium.

Tickets Are $20.00 with a limited amount of sponsorships available on a first come basis. Event is from 10:00AM until 2:00PM.

You will hear from some of our communities most outstanding women leaders. They will share some of their triumphs as well as some of their challenges. Through this discussion the panel will “Pay It Forward” by engaging in meaningful dialogue with the hope of building networks between women from all walks of life in our communities.

Ms. Argrow hopes the attendees will take away, "No matter what challenges they face, be it professional or personal they must always take the hand of another women and pull her up.”

A portion of the proceeds will benefit a new and innovative pilot program ACAPP (AWWIN childcare Assistance Planning Program).

Diana Harvey Johnson Honored As The 2013 Ten Women In Black Women's History Month Honoree

Diana Harvey-Johnson

Diana is a businesswoman, former GA state senator, community activist and organizer and writer. With a Bachelors degree from Morris Brown College, and a Masters from the University of Georgia in Athens, Johnson taught history at Paine College in Augusta, GA and worked as an historian at President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s birthplace and the Vanderbilt Mansion, both in Hyde Park, NY.

In 1973, she was hired as Program Coordinator at the Savannah State College Emergency School Aid Act Program, which was designed to ease the problems and tensions in the community brought on by the desegregation of the public schools system. In that capacity, she also wrote grants for additional funding for the College’s Division of Extended Services.
