Sarahlyn U. Argrow

In the year 2000, Sarahlyn U. Argrow turned her vision of assisting single working women with children into a reality. She is the Founder and Chairman of a nonprofit organization titled AWWIN, Inc. (Assisting Working Women In Need). AWWIN, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3)organization designed to assist single, working women and their children to better their circumstances. Sarahlyn’s vision regarding the plight of single working women has been central to the success of AWWIN, Inc. She is actively involved in the key management and strategic decision making of AWWIN including, but not limited to the business/venue operations, administration, educational programming, organizational development, infrastructure design and execution, grant writing, risk management, policy making and public and community relations.

Under Sarahlyn’s leadership, the mission of AWWIN has been to deliver a full continuum of support services to single working women and their children who are economically disadvantaged by providing an array of services that build self-reliance and foster personal, educational and professional achievement.

As the founder of AWWIN, Inc., Sarahlyn also consults with other business owners on the ABC’s of starting a business as well as the ABC’s of whom God has made them to be. She has been very instrumental in assisting others in reaching their goals and becoming the person God placed inside of them.

Sarahlyn started AWWIN, Inc. while she was employed by L’Oreal USA (formerly Carson Products) as the EDI Coordinator. In seven and a half years, she received four promotions. She was promoted from making a wage of $8.00 an hour as a temporary worker to a salaried position making over $60,000.00 a year. It was during her employment at L’Oreal USA, (in August of 2000) where she received the vision, strategy, resources and support to start AWWIN, Inc. Driven by self-determination and God, Sarahlyn went on to offer services and opportunities that were given to her, to many of the women she serves through AWWIN.

Sarahlyn has been featured in various local news segments such as the Hometown Hero with WTOC, the Champion of Change with WJCL, the Savannah Morning News, South Magazine and Skirt Magazine. Sarahlyn is one that dreams the impossible and makes it happen. She is a visionary for people; and in her looking, she envisions in them things pertaining to the causes AWWIN. She recognizes that AWWIN involves more than the single struggling mother, but working women in general. So one night she was watching TV and wow, there it was! While watching Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball, Sarahlyn realized working women in the city of Savannah, Georgia needed to be honored for all of their hard work and accomplishments. She incorporated the Savannah Top Ten Working Women of The Year Awards in 2006 at the AWWIN Annual Gala and Silent Auction. After two years of hosting the awards ceremony, Sarahlyn knew that it was bigger than Savannah. Therefore, it is now the AWWIN Top Ten Working Women of The Year Awards. The first recipient of the award (outside of Savannah) was Ms. Charcia Nichols of Atlanta, Georgia. She was the 2008 Education Honoree.

Through the vision of Sarahlyn, AWWIN has published its first book entitled, Secrets of the Woman in the Suit (Changing Lives One Woman At Time featuring Sarahlyn and some of the AWWIN Top Ten Working Women of the Year Honorees.
